Be the change you want to see in the world --Ghandi
There is a break between semesters and I find myself soaking in the time of rest. I am normally not one that can sit around for very long--this shows me just how exhausted I had become. It is good to catch up with friends, books, and Phoenix.
As I gather my energy I still have to restrain myself from diving quickly into a myrid of interests and groups I would like to be a part of. I am finding a place in the Unitarian Universalist Society and was suprised to find myself on the verge of becoming a member of this "church" already. No doctrine, just people, community--I remind myself.
Acknowledging the wall in front of me I see that I need to move past my baggage and accept this place simply for what it is: a community of people sharing their spiritual journeys. The people here are inspiring to me from Kathy who exchanges loving childcare with me for massage to Eva, the pastor, who is a kindred spirit. I am fascinated by the love and acceptance and grace I find at this place as I struggle to drop the baggage I have accumulated of my repulsion of religiouspeak. I would like to see a more accepting world, so I guess it begins with me
